Hi Phil, I am wondering on your experience / approach with a pregnant client (4 - 5 months) especially with the focus on hip alignment. Thank you

I have done quite a lot of work on pregnant women over the last 15 years here in Ireland. Polarity treatment is of enormous benefit. You really need to think of gentle perineal work. Being able to apply it in the side lying position is so helpful. I know a lot of therapists are anxious about working with pregnant women but my rule is simply be gentle and supportive. If she is having hip issues i.e. pain then this could be from internal pressure and so work on the water chakra and pelvis in general will help. The perineal work (and possibly coccyx treatment ) should resolve it.

In a very general sense with hip problems I would also think of the fire chakra, so I would also want to explore any mental emotional challenges she may be experiencing.

Thank you Phil for this insight!

You are most welcome Donna. It is strange that pregnancy has almost become a medical condition instead of the most extraordinary natural process it is. I remember giving a session to a pregnant lady in a big mind body spirit exhibition in London many many years ago and a person in the audience said. Should he being doing that- she is pregnant?!
